Daniel now goes to the throne of God as a supplicant. He does not do so based on the conversion of some of the people. He is pleading for God’s light, for his deliverance. He does this for the sake of the Lord himself. It is all about God’s name. Daniel carries this honour of God in his heart. Don’t allow your honour here on earth to be damaged, Lord. Let it be clear that you are the only living God. So let your light shine again on the temple, on your sanctuary that now lies destroyed. So that you will receive all the honour again.
17 Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate.
