What does the LORD reveal about himself when he makes a promise to Cain?
Genesis 4:15 (ESV)
15Then the LORD said to him, “Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him.
This is incredible: there are promises for a brutal murderer. That is who God is. He does not only have an eye for his children (think of Nineveh, Jonah 4:10–11).
15 Then the LORD said to him, “Not so! If anyone kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.” And the LORD put a mark on Cain, lest any who found him should attack him.
