The nations still conspiring against the Lord and his Anointed One

Psalm 2:1–12 (ESV)

1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

The death of Jesus Christ was certainly the greatest conspiracy, but it was not the last one. Still today, many conspire against the Lord and his Anointed. Think of the persecution of his followers in places like China, the killing of Christians by ISIS terrorists. The Western world also has conspiracies against the Lord abound. It is a post-Christian society that is increasingly hostile to the Lord and his Anointed One. There is hatred toward those who uphold what the Lord affirms in his Word regarding gender and sexuality. Taking the life of the most vulnerable in society is no longer a horrific evil, but a matter of choice. And behind the push to cancel culture is the push to cancel the anointed Christ from Western culture. These are all attempts in one way or another to silence the gospel, to silence God. They are conspiracies against the Lord and his Anointed One intended to undermine the Lord's power and authority, to disregard his rule and the way he created things to be. All of this is a bit scary. But we do not need to fear. Psalm 2:4–9 explains why.
