Daniel 12:5 (ESV)

5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on this bank of the stream and one on that bank of the stream.

Daniel has been told to ensure that the prophecies he has heard are kept safe for the people until the return of Christ. The next generations need to be able to read it. This book may not be lost but serves as an encouragement to Christ’s church until the end.

When Daniel has heard this command from God, he sees something special again. It is the man in the linen who keeps speaking to him. It is clear that this man is more than a mere human. He is from heaven. We have seen before that it is most plausible that this is the Son who has not yet become man (see Daniel 10:5). This is about the Angel of the Lord.

Daniel now sees that two more people have come from heaven and have joined the man in linen. They are standing on the bank of the river—one on one side and the other on the other side.
