14 Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John,

Acts 8:14–17 is wedged between what is being said about Simon in Acts 8:9–13 and Acts 8:18–24. This contrast and this confrontation with Simon are of great importance for Philip’s message and for the work of the Holy Spirit in Samaria.
