  2. Exposition

What happens to those who reject Jesus’ blood?

Hebrews 12:24 (ESV)

24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

Whoever profanes this blood of the new covenant and outrages the Spirit of grace will receive heavy punishment (greater than under the old covenant) from the Judge (Hebrews 10:29–31).

Whoever rejects this blood, by which they were bought and saved, is missing the one complete sacrifice needed, and his future will not be a feast, but a fury of fire (Hebrews 10:26–27). Therefore, to end this section, we read again the sincere warning in Hebrews 12:25–29: much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
