The word “blood” speaks to the murder of the three groups mentioned here: prophets, saints, and all. The Lord had declared in Genesis 9:6 that all who shed the blood of other people were themselves to forfeit their lives. As the God of justice, he in his time steps in to execute vengeance in favour of those who could not attain justice for their murders; he will forcefully hurl Babylon away so that no sign of life is ever heard in her again, which means that Babylon will receive what she did to those she killed (see further Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:17–18; Deuteronomy 19:21).
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on earth.”
