A murderer, like the first murderer, Cain, hates his fellow man and seeks to destroy the image of God in him. Murder is a heinous crime beyond hope for human reformation. If only our justice and penal systems would learn this! God requires the life of the murderer through judicial execution (Genesis 9:6). Those who support such killers do so in opposition to God and to the murdered, whose blood cries out to God for justice (Genesis 4:10). Yet although murderers are required to pay the supreme penalty on earth, even they may find saving grace from the One who prayed for his murderers: Father forgive them.... (Luke 23:34).
17 If one is burdened with the blood of another, he will be a fugitive until death; let no one help him.
