Emptiness of idolatry

Habakkuk 2:18 (ESV)

18 “What profit is an idol when its maker has shaped it, a metal image, a teacher of lies? For its maker trusts in his own creation when he makes speechless idols!

The problem with these idols is that they do not really exist. They only exist in our minds, they exist in our hearts, but they do not actually have an existence. That is the problem with idols, they do not actually exist. The only one who exists is God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. The One who controls everything from the end to the beginning. And if you worship idols, then you have got everything that is ever coming to you, and one day you will discover that it was all a fantasy. It promised much but delivered nothing.1
