Leviticus 4–5 forms a literary unit. Each main section begins with the phrase, If anyone sins
(Leviticus 4:2; Leviticus 5:1; Leviticus 5:15; Leviticus 6:2 [Hebrew: Leviticus 5:2]); and closes with the priest will make atonement for him...and he shall be forgiven
(Leviticus 4:35; Leviticus 5:13, Leviticus 5:18, Leviticus 6:7 [Hebrew: Leviticus 5:26]). While a number of connections exist across the chapters, a clear structure can be observed within each chapter. The following outline is suggested for Leviticus 4:1–35:
