Success comes from God

Ezra 7:27–28 (ESV)

27 Blessed be the LORD, the God of our fathers, who put such a thing as this into the heart of the king, to beautify the house of the LORD that is in Jerusalem,

He understands this is God's doing, not my doing. God's power is perfected in weakness. In other words, it is perfected when we know our weakness, our inadequacy, our insufficiency. When we know that we do not have the capacity, the ability, the power, or the strength to do anything that will ever amount to anything for the sake of the kingdom of God, it is at that point that God is ready to act. And behind all the initiative of Ezra that we have just mentioned is the piety that knows of his weakness and knows that when success happens, it happens by the hand of God. He cries out in weakness, knowing that God's power is perfected in weakness. And so, all the praise and the glory go to him.1
