Praying for the government

Ezra 6:10 (ESV)

10 that they may offer pleasing sacrifices to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons.

Christians have a responsibility to not only submit to the governing authorities (Romans 13:1–14) but also to pray for those who are kings, governors, and rulers—those who are appointed over us. Paul could not actually be clearer in 1 Timothy 2:1–15, that we are to pray for those who are our leaders. Now very rarely do you have a leader that says, I want you to pray for me, but here, Darius does.1
