God reorganizing His leaders

Ezra 8:16–20 (ESV)

16 Then I sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, leading men, and for Joiarib and Elnathan, who were men of insight,

[Sherebiah] is not some third stringer or benchwarmer. This guy is one of the cream of the crop in Casiphia, and I would like to remind you that God often does that. God will often take those that are the leaders and those men who are being used in their places of service—and not just take in a sense that he uses the guys that are waiting for an opportunity, but he takes guys that are already being used. I would remind you that when the church in Antioch set its mind to fasting and praying, the Holy Spirit actually said, set apart for me Barnabas and Saul. Barnabas and Saul were the leaders. They were two of the most significant men in the church at Antioch and yet it was those two that the Spirit of God went to send out on the mission.1
