Jephthah’s message begins with an extensive historical argument about the disputed land (Judges 11:15–22). Jephthah recounts the events of Numbers 20:1 – 24:25 and Deuteronomy 2:1–37 in an effort to lecture the Ammonite king on the circumstances that led to the Israelites’ occupation of the land of Gilead.
