The next section begins with the introductory formula, “And this is the law.” As the regulations for the grain offering (Leviticus 2:1–16) follow those for the burnt offering (Leviticus 1:1–17), so the same sequence appears here. In Leviticus 2:1–16, the reader learnt that the grain offering represented the worshipper's loyal devotion and dedication to the Lord. It was, in other words, a public expression of commitment.
