During the forty days between his resurrection and ascension Jesus spent some time with the apostles, but he was not in their presence continually. His focus in this time was on bringing them to understand that he had really risen from the grave, and on speaking to them about the kingdom so that they would know how to understand the implications of his work.
3 He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
