It appears as if Jesus summoned the scribes to the house where he was with his disciples. He wanted to speak to them in response to the rumours that they were spreading. In this, we see something of Jesus’ compassion. He even makes time to speak to those who hate him, who want to have him killed. He wants to help them understand who he is, even if they want nothing to do with him.
23 And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?
