Revelation of God the Father

Acts 1:12–26 (ESV)

12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

What does Acts 1:12–26 reveal about who God the Father is? God hears prayers. The early church gathers together to pray to God confident that he will hear them and respond to their prayer.

God is sovereign and in control. Ahead of time God has spoken by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David. He also causes the lot to fall so that Matthias is chosen to replace Judas.

God is concerned for the proclamation of the kingdom. The apostles are eyewitnesses and earwitnesses, so their message will have credibility.

God desires fellowship with his people. God gathered a people together in the past and he also does so in the present. There must be twelve apostles to show that the people of Israel are being reorganized.
