Exodus 4:18–31 (ESV)

18 Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Please let me go back to my brothers in Egypt to see whether they are still alive.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”

When God calls us to do difficult things, to stumble through our responsibilities hindered and embarrassed by our weaknesses, and to experience a life that is a lot different than the kind of life we were planning and expecting, let us trust in the sovereign power and wisdom of the Lord. The signs he gave to Moses continue to assure us of his power and his nearness to his church. His decision to use people who are weak in the eyes of the world, continue to remind us that whether or not we think we can do our tasks, he will accomplish his purposes through us.
