The purpose of the peace offering was to show gratitude to God for the ways in which he has provided for his people. New Testament believers are urged to continue to offer thanks to God for his wondrous provision. Furthermore, there are numerous parallels between the peace offering and the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper is an act of faith in which believers eat together the body and blood of Jesus. Those who share in the Lord’s Supper do so to show that they are at peace with God and in communion with each other.
21 And if anyone touches an unclean thing, whether human uncleanness or an unclean beast or any unclean detestable creature, and then eats some flesh from the sacrifice of the LORD’s peace offerings, that person shall be cut off from his people.”
