31The priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the breast shall be for Aaron and his sons.
The breast was given to the priesthood. It was their portion. In 1 Samuel 2:12–17, the sons of Eli are condemned as priests because they seized the meat of sacrifices before they burnt the fat portions to the Lord.
