The book of Acts recounts the spread of the early church and the manner in which Christ works to take the gospel from Jerusalem, to Samaria, and finally to the ends of the world (Acts 1:8). In this sermon you must focus on the conversation and events which transpired after Peter concluded his speech. You should aim to help church members understand why the crowd was so upset and why repentance and baptism results in the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Spirit. Your sermon will also be a good opportunity to talk about the connection between baptism and receiving the Spirit, and also why the children are mentioned in connection to baptism.
