Restoration of all things

Acts 3:1–11 (ESV)

1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

The disability of the beggar is the result of living in a cursed and fallen world. Our world is a place of disease and suffering. This is not life as it was meant to be. The healing of the man, however, confirms that Jesus has the power to make all things new. He has the power to give strength to twisted muscles and broken bones. He has the power to set creation free from its bondage to decay (see Romans 8:20–21), and when he returns in glory, that is what will happen. What was done on a small scale with this healing will take place all over. The restoration of all things—life in a glorious new sin-free world.
