Psalm 74:18 (ESV)

18 Remember this, O LORD, how the enemy scoffs, and a foolish people reviles your name.

As mentioned earlier, Yahweh’s name is identical to his reputation. The destruction of the temple and the deportation of the people to Babylon was a humiliation for Yahweh. His power was called into question. It would seem obvious that the foolish people refer to the Babylonians, but Asaph may also have been writing about the people of Judah. Similarly, Jeremiah had called them stupid children (Jeremiah 4:22; Jeremiah 5:21) when they refused to humble themselves before Yahweh.
