The conclusion of the psalm is just as sad and hopeless as the rest. There is no triumphant ending. Instead, Heman repeats many of his lamentations. Heman was not happy to be facing death. He felt that Yahweh was abandoning him (Psalm 88:14) and wanted to know why he was suffering (Psalm 88:15). He repeats his feeling of isolation from his companions. Although it is true that many children of God, led by the Holy Spirit and their faith, can accept death with courage, feelings of fear and loneliness are real and do not necessarily indicate a denial of faith in God’s promises and the life to come.
13 But I, O LORD, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
