The Son as Saviour for all time

1 Peter 1:13–21 (ESV)

13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

There is an overarching theme in all of history. Before he fashioned the world, the Lord God had already designated his Son to be the Saviour. This designation received hints in the old dispensation with the sacrifices of lambs (Gen. 22; Lev. 1; etc.). It in turn received clarity with the coming of Jesus Christ himself and specificity as this good news was brought to the attention of sinners who lived in a specific location at a specific time. Ultimately that is not only the exiles of the Dispersion (you in 1 Peter 1:20) but all God’s own over the years and centuries.
