Jesus is the good Shepherd who laid down his live for the sheep (John 10:11). He is sent to earth to save God’s people (Matthew 1:21). Elders or overseers in the church have to watch the flock and be shepherds of the church that Jesus bought with his own blood (Acts 20:28). The overseers have to do it willingly, not because they are forced to do it (1 Peter 5:2–4).
1 Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
