The term translated as “invited” means “called.” The reference is to those who heard the gospel and responded in obedience and faith. To say it in the words of this chapter, these are they who embraced God’s identity as “salvation and glory and power,” and so escaped the clutches of the prostitute.
9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
