The king had a desire. He also voiced it (the request of his lips
). And because the Lord fathoms the hearts of men, he knows the king’s desire. He also granted his wish, although it is somewhat differently phrased with not withheld.
There may have been some time between the desire with the prayer and its answer. A long time passed from David’s anointing to his ascension to the throne, in which he also faced many trials. Now a great feast is held: his wishes and prayers are fulfilled!
How do we view answer to prayer? How do we deal with the trial of not receiving an answer to prayer? Do we then continue to depend on the Lord in everything?
