Though they conspire against the Lord, though they desire evil, they accomplish nothing. The enemy will not give up soon. He keeps looking for opportunities to take the king of the Lord. They keep plotting disaster, but they will not succeed. The poet believes in the power and faithfulness of the Lord, as stated in Psalm 2:2–5, The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed…He who sits in the heaven laughs…he will speak to them in his wrath
(then the power of the Son follows).
