19 But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said,

Intervention of the angel shows that God is answering the earlier prayer in which he was asked to take notice of the hostility of the Jewish leadership and grant them boldness to continue speaking of Christ (Acts 4:29). Two further prison breaks are also described elsewhere in Acts (Acts 12:6–11; Acts 16:25–26).
