1. Job 3:1–26 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What is the main concern of Job 3?

Job 3:1–26 (ESV)

1 After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.

In Job 3, Job enters the deepest valley of despair. At this moment, his task of glorifying God over against Satan becomes too heavy for him to bear. Job 3 is a raw cry of despair, not a careful theological contemplation. Job himself will later admit that his words have been rash (Job 6:3). And yet, he never curses God. Stumbling on the right way is not the same as walking on the wrong way!
