The people of Israel are summoned to the anointing of the priests. This was to be a public ordination ceremony. Ross (p.209) suggests that, “Because these men had spiritual authority over the people, it was imperative that the congregation witness their consecration as priests in order to be convinced that they were made priests by God.”
