Leviticus 8:31 concludes the ordination ceremony with a sacred meal. This consisted of the breast, which was Moses’ portion, and the bread that was placed on top of the altar. This feast was a covenant meal which solidified the bond between the Lord and the priesthood. Leviticus 8:31 also marks the first time that Moses spoke directly to Aaron and his sons.
31 And Moses said to Aaron and his sons, “Boil the flesh at the entrance of the tent of meeting, and there eat it and the bread that is in the basket of ordination offerings, as I commanded, saying, ‘Aaron and his sons shall eat it.’
