Job’s fear of God keeps him from directly questioning God’s ways. However, criticism against God’s ways is implied in his words. If a person has to exist, then why does he have to suffer so? And if he has to suffer so, why does he have to exist? These are the questions that begin to occupy Job.
God will still declare that Job had spoken right of him (Job 42:7), and yet God will also rebuke Job for accusing and condemning him (Job 40:1–5). In any case, from chapter 3 onwards it cannot be said of Job anymore that he did not sin in what he said
(Job 2:10).
