Why does Stephen refer to the LORD as the God of glory?

Acts 7:2 (ESV)

2 And Stephen said: “Brothers and fathers, hear me. The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

The description of God as the God of glory (Psalm 29:3) right from the outset is perhaps to emphasize the transcendence of God who does not live in a temple made with hands.1 The same phrase is also used by Moses in reference to God dwelling among the Israelites in the tent of meeting and his glory filling the tabernacle (Exodus 25:8; Exodus 40:34–35).2
