Reuel means friend of God.
In his name he is the opposite of Pharaoh who is God’s enemy.
Reuel is called a priest (Exodus 2:16). We have to understand this as a priest of the Lord, otherwise it would be mentioned that he worshipped idols. Moses meets his brother in faith.
18 When they came home to their father Reuel, he said, “How is it that you have come home so soon today?”
