Revelation of God the Son

Acts 8:1–25 (ESV)

1 And Saul approved of his execution. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

What does Acts 8:1b–25 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? Jesus Christ has made it possible for me to be part of God’s church. He perfectly obeyed God’s law in my place and suffered the punishment that I deserve for sin, so that I do not have to be under God’s judgment, but can instead be adopted as a child of God. Even though I am not ethnically descended from Abraham, because I have faith in Christ I can nevertheless be part of God’s church and an inheritor of the promises made to Abraham (see Galatians 3:15–29).
