Jehoiachin followed in his father’s footsteps. One can probably even say: He followed in the footsteps of his parents.
For his mother—Nehushta (see 2 Kings 24:8)—it is emphatically stated that she also goes into exile (see 2 Kings 24:12, 2 Kings 24:15 and Jeremiah 29:2). And above all, we read in Jeremiah 22:26 that she is under the same judgment as her son. Together they will be cast out, that is, they will be taken into exile together. She and her son are both guilty. Hence we can say that Jehoiachin followed in the footsteps of his parents.
9 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.
