18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

Peter’s effort to encourage his readers in the face of unjust suffering continues till 1 Peter 4:11. In the present paragraph, Peter focuses on the victory that Christ Jesus achieved over dark spirits through his suffering. This victory forms the springboard into the instruction of 1 Peter 4:1 to “arm yourselves with the same way of thinking.”
