What exactly does the LORD declare will happen to Babylon?
Isaiah 14:22 (ESV)
22“I will rise up against them,” declares the LORD of hosts, “and will cut off from Babylon name and remnant, descendants and posterity,” declares the LORD.
Babylon will never rise again, but the true God will. He will leave no remnant, in contrast to the Israelites, of whom there would always be a remnant. The phrase declares the Lord emphasizes that the Lord’s word is irrevocable.
