The phrase “of God” indicates that God is the host of this supper. He has determined its menu and he has invited the guests. The fact that it’s a “great supper” speaks both to the lavish extent of the meal as well as to its message. The “marriage supper of the Lamb” celebrated a wedding (Revelation 19:15); this “great supper” celebrates a victory. We had, after all, already read about the Rider striking down the nations (Revelation 19:15) and treading them in God’s winepress (Revelation 19:16).
