Speaking different than the world

James 1:26 (ESV)

26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

Once we walk out of the door of the church, we are all inclined to assimilate our language into that of the community and the prevailing world. To go along with their terminology for life and their definition of terms and meaning, and we are not allowed to do that. We have to keep a tight rein on our tongues so that, when we speak, there is a difference; and what we say is not just a cliché or a kind of a nod that goes along with something that is fundamentally and basically not right. We keep a tight rein on our tongues so that our tongue also serves the Lord our God. Because if we do not keep a rein on our tongue, we will be so surprised at how often it talks the language of the world—that of the age in which we live with all of its humanistic and false principles.1
