Zedekiah is brought to Riblah where Nebuchadnezzar’s head office is. There he is sentenced.
In his infidelity to the king of Babylon (the breaking of his oath, 2 Kings 24:20), Zedekiah also showed infidelity toward God who used Nebuchadnezzar to punish Jerusalem. Submission to Nebuchadnezzar would therefore have been the only correct way to go (Jeremiah 38:17–21).
Zedekiah’s infidelity to God, of course, included much more than breaking his oath.
6 Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and they passed sentence on him.
