Joshua 6:1–12:24 (ESV)

1 Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in.

Chapters 6—12 narrate the conquest under the leadership of the Divine Warrior who fights Israel’s battles. This section includes a description of three campaigns: the central highlands (Joshua 6:1 – 9:27), the five kings in the south (Joshua 10:1–43), and the coalition of kings led by Hazor in the north (Joshua 11:1–11).1 After these accounts this section finishes with an appendix (Joshua 12:1–24).2
