What does 1 Samuel 9:1–10:16 reveal about who God the Father is? The Lord is merciful. He provides Israel with a king that has the potential to do a lot of good. A better king than what they deserve.
The Lord is sovereign. He is in complete control of events. He makes sure that Saul meets with Samuel. He reveals the future to Samuel. He ensures that political leaders are present to see Saul so that they can later support him.
The Lord accommodates himself to his people. He gives Saul signs to encourage him.
The Lord equips his people for works of service. By his Spirit he strengthens Saul for his work as king.
