The fact that the Lord is in the midst of his people verifies that he loves his people and is satisfied with them. For the covenant Lord of Israel cannot be in the midst of his people when sin is present. But “there is nothing now to alienate the Holy One.… This indwelling is also the central divine objective in the work of redemption (Exodus 29:46)."1
15 The LORD has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil.
