The location of the wilderness of Sinai has traditionally been identified as being the southern region of the modern-day Sinai Peninsula. Some, however, have recently advanced the idea that this wilderness is in modern-day Saudi Arabia, citing, amongst others, a statement made by Paul who mentions Mount Sinai as being in Arabia
(see Galatians 4:25). It must be noted that Paul’s Arabia
is not identical with modern-day Saudi Arabia. The modern-day Sinai Peninsula fell within the territory of Paul’s Arabia.
Thus there is no good reason to doubt that the traditional location of the wilderness of Sinai is correct.
