Joshua 8 presents one of the most detailed accounts of military strategy found in the Old Testament. It contains dialogue (speeches from the Lord to Joshua as well as from Joshua to the people of Israel) and historical narrative. This chapter narrates the third battle that takes place in the central highlands of the land of Canaan as well as the covenant renewal ceremony which follows Israel’s victory.
