This is the fate of those who trust in themselves; this is how it is with those who like to hear themselves (compare Psalm 49:6). Translated in another way: this road that they travel is their foolishness (as Psalm 49:10 says), and yet their descendants delight in their words.
Evil is contagious; it infects others. Foolishness shows up in trusting in oneself, and then trusting in God is no longer necessary. Often, people are impressed by people with big mouths and proud hearts.
